Outline application for 120 dwellings pending an appeal

The 5.9 hectare (14.6 acre) site is located on the south east edge of the village of Charminster - a large, well serviced village 1.5 miles from the market town of Dorchester.

A planning application for the development of 120 homes, public open space, landscaping and associated works including much needed improvements to the road and footpaths leading into the village centre was submitted to West Dorset District Council in July 2017 (ref WD/D/17/001831). This followed extensive pre-application discussions with the authority and consultation with the public.

LVA worked closely with the Council throughout the planning application process, which was subsequently recommended for approval by the councils’ planning officers with no technical objections. However, the recommendation was overturned at committee.

LVA have worked closely with a newly selected team of specialists to analyse the reasons for refusal and have prepared high-level documentation and evidence to be used in an appeal. The appeal is scheduled for March 2019.
